A series of glass windows connects the interior with the world outside and brings in the ever-changing sights and sounds of nature. On the inside one sees a far more approach to design with curated décor polished finishes and a color scheme based on white and gray.
Increasing the living space of the original cottage structure that was set back from the street Nick Deaver Architect designed a new addition that creates a smart indoor-outdoor interplay with a series of exterior terraces.
The wooden part of the building crafted from the modular blocks and the roof was built in no more than five days and this also helps in giving the home an eco-friendlier sheen! The interior of the house is divided into three parts with the living area at the front followed by the kitchen and dining area with the cozy bedroom nestled at the rear.
But that is where the similarities end as the new house was crafted using revolutionary developed by ETH Zurich which can be filled with different materials to change the level of insulation! The hollow wooden blocks are not the only planet-friendly feature here and you can also see reclaimed wood and other materials from the old house being reused to cut down on both wastage and construction costs.
On the ground floor is a small reception along with a coffee area that allows you to welcome potential customers and clients and offers a wonderful hangout for everyone working in the two levels above. Small niches provide smart conversation nooks even as the beautiful blue walls and exposed concrete surfaces usher in a modern-industrial style.
Replacing the original cabin that was built in the 1950s the latest structure seamlessly integrates with the pool and a recent annex that sit next to it. It was a conscious effort on the part of the architects to create an exterior that complemented the slanted roof of the annex covered with wooden shingles.
Another striking feature of the residence is the perforated metal screen that filters out harsh sunlight while illuminating both the levels of the home. Custom fixtures such as the loft bed in the kids’ room and the colorful fiberglass bathtub in the bathroom make cleaning and maintenance a lot easier and turn the revamped into a breezy delight!
