Increasing the living space of the original cottage structure that was set back from the street Nick Deaver Architect designed a new addition that creates a smart indoor-outdoor interplay with a series of exterior terraces.
Combining the charm of the 70s with midcentury décor and a touch of glitz and glam with contemporary ergonomics and trendy design the interior of this London residence offers the best of both worlds. The recipient of the award from United Kingdom Property Awards it is easy to see why anyone would instantly fall in love with this soothing and chic interior. On the lowest level one sees the living space / TV room that creates a vivacious and fun atmosphere with its semi-industrial style and iconic décor additions like the Wegner’s Papa Bear Chair.
With an open living area that also houses the kitchen and dining space becoming the social zone and heart of the house one feels that the interior is a lot more spacious than it really is. Pops of green and orange enliven the kitchen bedroom and bathroom while furniture crafted from leftover structural timber and concrete gives the home a planet-friendly twist. A large wooden and concrete deck outside complete a home that is inviting practical and peaceful.
Step in further and this idea of exclusivity is reinforced by a living room where the exposed concrete fireplace and the mirror on the mantel combine to create an artistic focal point. There is no lack of color inside this living space with the corner areas being utilized as quiet and comfy reading / conversation zones. Draped in simple neutral hues and warm wooden tones the kitchen and dining space exude a more transitional style with beautiful pendant lighting and skylights illuminating this space evenly.
A cloak of natural greenery surrounds the cottage and gives ample privacy to those spending their time enjoying the sunny afternoons and cool evenings on the terraces. The use of large glass walls for the living and dining rooms along with sliding glass doors provides one large ‘party zone’ where friends and family can gather in peace.
